SESSION 1: HABIT HOLE
Young people will be able to explain their current habits and identify which habits play the most significant role in shaping their identity.

#HalfTheStory and Girls Inc. have collaborated to design and develop a digital wellbeing program for Girls Inc. youth called CTRL Your Scroll: Beyond the Screen. It is a first-of-its-kind play-based, evidence-informed program that equips young teens with the emotional skills and digital awareness they need to navigate today’s online world with confidence, intention, and care.
Below, you will find eight 45-minute sessions, plus training resources highlighting best practices discovered during our pilot. You can log in and access these materials as frequently as you need to! And, we recognize that you know your teens best, so feel free to make modifications and adaptations to the activities as you see fit. Thank you for helping support today's teens in having a healthy digital life!

Now, let's dive in ... The following materials are from our Fall 2025 Pilot, so you may see references to such. Just know that we're in the process of revising this program, and these resources will be updated Summer 2026.

Young people will be able to explain their current habits and identify which habits play the most significant role in shaping their identity.

Young people will learn to recognize and manage their emotions more effectively, enabling them to communicate more effectively with others.

Young people will analyze how stress can accumulate from online responsibilities, leading to cognitive overload.

Young people will recognize how digital interactions affect their emotions and explore tools to manage those emotions before they spiral out of control.

Young people will understand the importance of pausing — emotionally and cognitively — and practice strategies that make pausing easier in a tech-saturated world.

Young people will unpack how the persuasive design of digital platforms captures their attention and keeps them engaged online.

Young people will explore how physical spaces influence their digital habits and design a space that supports intentional and healthy tech use and boundaries.

Young people will explain how habits such as tech use, stress, and FOMO impact their sleep, and apply behavior change strategies to develop a more intentional, screen-free bedtime routine.
We're always looking for input! Feel free to give us your thoughts, suggestions, and questions on a particular session. We will fold in your feedback as we iterate on the next version of CTRL Your Scroll. You can fill out this form as frequently as you wish. Thank you for designing with us!
